Sitting in a Czech casino my first evening at King’s Casino in Rozvadov went kind of like the European Championship’s game for the Czech national team vs. Portugal: the start was OK, but then it went downhill. My play started with Thursday’s 66 € Route 66 Freezeout tourney. Actually a fine tourney for only 66 € with a starting stack of 12,000 and blind levels of 25 minutes and 25/50 to start with. Even though I never fell below my starting stack in the first two and a half hours, I never was able to really gather chips either. Pocket sixes and AQ (right away in my 2nd hand) were my best hands for the first six levels. After the break I dropped from 11,200 to just above 5k until I was allin for the first time with AQ vs. K10 –> back up to 11k. Just one orbiit later my second re-raise allin was called and I moved up to 22k with AK vs. K10 busting a smaller stack at blinds of 600/1,200/100 and an average of 25,000. I ended my short tourney upwsing another orbit later re-raise pushing the flop in a battle of blinds with Q10 on a A105-board – unfortunately small blind’s small reraise preflop was not just puttiing pressure on me, but representing his Ax –> out in 48th of 111 players.

After busting out of the tourney, I hit the cashgame tables to play the very soft 1/3 € games with either a bunch load of limpers or relatively large raises preflop with mediocre crap. There the story repeated itself somehow and I simply did not get the hands to become active enough myself to win the moneys that was thrown into pots which were won with middle pair or worse. Nevertheless I built my 250 € up to almost 450 € in the first 90 minutes. As mentioned in the very beginning, my stack went downwards though the same way as the Czech game and I finished the night with another loss in cashgames of 250 € – QQ was beat by 99 (straight) for a 500+ € pot against one of the worse player at the table obviously –> Why is it not possible for me to start a trip with a positive night to get some sort of a head-start instead of trailing right from the beginning?

The King’s Casino offers free beer for tonite’s game of Germany vs. Greece, which is one of the reasons why I will not be playing day 1a of the main event tonite, but (only) the satellite starting in three hours at 5pm and the first side event of the DPT – tonite’s schedule:

With the start of this project I did not plan to take a shot at WSOP satellites or qualifiers, but Titan Poker is hosting a “Warrior League 2012”, similar to the one they hosted last year. I did not play the league last year, but kept in my mind to check Titan’s homepage for the league this year. The structure is quite simple to explain: every warrior qualifies for six special tournaments after paying the entry fee for the league of $215. The tourneys are in three weeks in May on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Each tourney awards the same amount of points for the top finishers and the best five results of every player sum up to his total score. The top 50 % of players who have reached the most points after event # 6 will qualify for the 7th tourney – the Warrior Grand Final on May, 28th. This final awards twice the amount of points of the previous tourneys to determine the winners of the overall league. The first 15 players receive WSOP packages with a Main + Side Event Package for 1st and 2nd, a Side Event Package only for 15th and different packages in between. Players finishing overall 16th to 50th receive $525 WSOP Satellite or smaller tourney tokens.

Just about three weeks to go until I will leave for the Paradise Poker Tour and Spain. Having a full schedule for the 4-5 days in Barcelona does not mean, that I am not checking other qualifiers and tourneys in the meantime. Since I have another two days off of work (vacation on Monday and holiday on Tuesday), I have checked the qualifiers on Pokerstars and decided to play every sub-qualifier for the daily finales for the Belgian Poker Series Finale in Namur:

All together that means I will be investing 104 € plus rebuys and addon in the 3.30 € and the 2.20 € sub-qualifiers, the 500 FPP sub-qualifier will be played as a little add-on to the project. Rebuys and/or addon in the finales will be only used if I win multiple seats to the finale and/or out of my own pocket.

Besides these qualifiers I will have a look on other qualifiers, such as the ones on Paradise Poker. I cashed in as little as 100 € to play tonite’s qualifiers for packages for the tour and I will be playing both, sub-qualifiers and the direct buyin qualifier, since there are three packages guaranteed in the qualifier:

Having a short review on last week’s happenings it all started good with the succesful cashgame session in Saarbrücken. Trying to use the momentum of Sunday, I went to Casino Trier on Monday and played another NL400 session, but that time again with no good ending. I used and lost three bullets of 200 €, but will only calculate two of them to the project since using 600 € on one nite is definately not what was intended by my own rules. Still, the loss of 400 € combined with online winnings of $75 by not winning a seat a finale on 888poker and the winnings on Sunday, leaves me almost break-even for the week. Lets see if today will be +ROI!
